Will I have to partition the new drive? If I have the softwareįor the Dell Utility I'd like to reinstall it.

I know my system will support Windows 7 (1.66 GHz, 2 GB Ram), but is it worth it to update a computer this old? I'm thinking it will be another year or two till I purchase a new computer and give this one to my husband.ġ. My husband can use his educator discount to get 7 at a good price.
Since I'm reinstalling the operating system, should I just be upgrading to Windows 7? I'm perfectly happy with XP. I've read and printed out Manually Reinstall Your Windows XP Operating System. Now I will not need the Antivirus or most likely the internet software. What does Dell Tools System Software included? The disc says Antivirus, Support, Multimedia and Internet Software. My current drive has 39 MB FAT (EISA Configuration), 49.80 GB NTFS (System), 4.64 GB FAT32 (Unknown) partitions and the hidden MediaDirect files. I have the reinstallation DVD of Windows XP Media Center Version 2005 with Update Rollup from Dell along with Reinstalling Dell Tools System Software.
This time around, I want to do a complete reinstall. I found out that this was not going to be as easy as the rep suggested and returned the once 250 GB now 60 GB hard drive back to Dell. About a year ago I tried to clone the drive at the suggestion of a Dell Representative with Apricorn EZ Gig II. I have a E1505 with a 60 GB hard drive running Windows XP Media Center that is still working, but I would like to upgrade to a larger drive.
